How do quotes work?
When you order from a job, one enquiry goes out to every merchant that serves your site's postcode. Merchants on Compare Materials quote in their portal; other local merchants get the enquiry by email with a link to respond. Every reply lands in the same comparison on your job.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. Compare Materials is free — free for builders to compare and order, and free for merchants to quote and sell.
Is there a minimum order?
We suggest a £50 minimum so delivery makes sense — the basket warns you below that, but it never blocks you.
Can I order from several merchants at once?
Yes — that's the point. Accept the best quote line by line and place every order in one basket with one card payment. Each merchant fulfils and delivers their part.
What if a product isn't in the catalogue?
Request it from the search panel — it goes to our catalogue team, gets a standard unit, and merchants can price it like anything else.
How does delivery work?
Each merchant delivers to the job's site address and includes their delivery charge in the quote, so the comparison is always the delivered price. You track every order live through to delivered.
